Expanding Access to Mental Health Care Across Connecticut
Elm State Care is a Connecticut-based nonprofit organization dedicated to removing barriers to mental and behavioral health services for children, families, and schools throughout the state.
Our Purpose:
Building Access, Step by Step
Elm State Care exists to help remove barriers that often stand in the way of mental health support, including access, cost, and availability. Our focus is on supporting communities through early access efforts, education, and partnerships that strengthen Connecticut’s mental health landscape.

Areas of Support & Development
Elm State Care is being developed around a few core focus areas that will continue to grow over time:

School & Youth Mental Health Access
Workshops, training, and practical resources designed to strengthen families and communities through mental health awareness and skill-building.

Family & Community Mental Health Education
Supporting the next generation of mental health professionals through supervision, mentorship, and hands-on clinical experience.

Future Clinician Workforce Development
Helping students and families access school-based counseling and mental health services, regardless of insurance or financial barriers.

Why This Mission Matters
Mental health affects every part of a community—from families and schools to workplaces and healthcare systems. Elm State Care was created to support long-term, sustainable access to mental health resources across Connecticut, starting at the community level.
This work is about creating opportunity, expanding access, and strengthening support systems over time.

Our Roots
Elm State Care was founded in partnership with Cornerstone Counseling Center, a trusted provider of mental and behavioral health services in Connecticut. This gives Elm State the resources needed to focus on community access, education, and nonprofit outreach.
